In the following clip from the 1941 comedy <em><a title=\"Ball of Fire\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ball_of_Fire\" target=\"_blank\">Ball of Fire<\/a><\/em>, he is performing one of my favorite tunes of the era<em>. <\/em>(The script was written by <a title=\"Billy Wilder Biography\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Billy_Wilder\" target=\"_blank\">Billy Wilder<\/a> &amp; <a title=\"Charles Brackett Biography\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Charles_Brackett\" target=\"_blank\">Charles Brackett<\/a>;\u00a0the film, also known as <em>The Professor and the Burlesque Queen, <\/em>starred <a title=\"Gary Cooper Biography\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gary_Cooper\" target=\"_blank\">Gary Cooper<\/a> and <a title=\"Barbara Stanwyck Biography\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Barbara_Stanwyck\" target=\"_blank\">Barbara Stanwyck<\/a>. (Note how smooth the transitions are.
